Bukowski, one of America’s best known contemporary writers, was a low-life drifter, prophet of the unemployed who didn’t start writing until he was 35, after quitting his job at the post office.
Paynes portrayal of Buk’s characters are a paradoxical mix of cynicism and honor, brutality and pathos, failure and success.
