About the Show

Americanblackout is the creation of writer/director Robb Leigh Davis. “The piece is my reflection of the experience of growing up as a gay Black man in the United States,” says Davis. “My experience has found that, more often than not, gay is recognized as white, and Black is translated as not being gay. Americanblackout is my viewpoint of a country unsure of its future, struggling through its present and, in a willfully ignorant fashion, turning a blind eye to its past.”

Americanblackout is presented as part of the 10th Annual New York International Fringe Festival.
