New York City
Imperfect People Theater Company presents A Light Behind the Curtain, by Michael Edison Hayden. This neo-naturalistic comedy offers a critique of the culture that today’s young adults have inherited from their baby-boomer parents.
The play follows a group of twenty-somethings as they produce a show. This production forms the background for their interactions as they try to resolve their uncomfortable fit in today’s society. Facing a deteriorating culture, apathetic peers, and the mocking ghosts of the past, these young men and women must reconcile their sense of responsibility with its accompanying sense of futility. Their relationships are tied in knots of love and sexuality, trust and practicality, and ultimately all they have to rely on is each other. Their play may be the only thing they can produce.
