About This Show

The plays of four celebrated, award-winning American women playwrights?Lillian Hellman, Lorraine Hansberry, Ketti Frings and Susan Glaspell?will be featured in Women Wonders, the Century Center for the Performing Arts 2nd annual summer festival of play readings. Judith Light (Wit) will be joined by dozens of actresses and actors in the following pieces coordinated and directed by Alfred Christie.
June 6 and 7 – The Autumn Garden: Lillian Hellman’s play about deception and denial set in a summer resort near New Orleans in 1949
June 13 and 14 – Look Homeward, Angel: Ketti Frings’ 1958 Pulitzer Prize-winning play based on the acclaimed novel by Thomas Wolfe
June 20 and 21 – A Raisin in the Sun: Lorraine Hansberry’s groundbreaking play about an African-American family in 1950’s Chicago
June 27 and 28 – Trifles and Suppressed Desires: Two one-act plays by Susan Glaspell.
