In The Thickness of Skin, Clare McIntyre asks 'in what ways are we responsible to help our fellow human beings'? She highlights the humorous and humanistic side of life while encouraging us each to reflect and perhaps transform. In the play, Laura chooses to help the displaced and out-of-work Eddie. A relationship blossoms and blurs the lines of charity and manipulation. Meanwhile, Roanna and Michael are struggling to understand their son Jonathan, on the cusp of adulthood, and his friendship with their eccentric neighbor, Imogen. Laura and her family must decide to what lengths they will go in order to 'help' their fellow man.
