Sore Throats

Theatre for a New Audience presents the New York premiere of Howard Brenton’s Sore Throats directed by Evan Yionoulis. Marriage, sex and money collide in Mr. Brenton’s powerful, study of what happens to Judy when her 20-year old marriage crashes and burns. Haunted by Jack, her alternately brutal and tender ex-husband (a chief inspector for the police), and experimenting with booze, drugs and sex with Sally, her new younger-generation roommate (a telephone receptionist at a London newspaper), Judy begins a riveting trajectory with a wholly unpredictable end.
