Shrunken Shakespeare Company’s 2015 Benefit Gala

Royal Shakespeare Company star and Olivier-winning Chukwudi Iwuji along with a cast of stage and film stars will read the New York Premiere of IRA, Iwuji’s screenplay on Ira Alridge one of the first African Americans to grace the London stage. In his quest for opportunities in the West End, Ira falls in love with Margaret, an English abolitionist. In the face of racial and social adversity, their bond will be stretched to its limits in this story of love, social strife, and the journey to becoming a legend. Cast includes Condola Rashad, Lorraine Toussaint, James Waterston, Michael Rudko, Abby Wilde, Sean Patrick Riley, Tyler Hollinger, Ryan Duncan, Tom O’Keefe, Yvonne Cone, Jennifer Martina, Josh Helman and Jay O.
