About This Show

This new revue of songs written by Stephen Sondheim over the course of his long career was conceived by British director David Kernan as a 70th birthday tribute to the acclaimed composer/lyricist. Kernan, also the creator twenty-five years earlier of what has long been regarded as the definitive revue, Side by Side by Sondheim, first staged the show — originally titled Moving On — in July, 2000 at London’s Bridewell Theatre. It features a plethora of songs written by the composer in the years since Side by Side by Sondheim, including 41 songs (in whole or in part) that appear in 14 musicals, from Saturday Night to Passion, 4 films and 1 television play.

Interspersed among the songs in this bookless revue are recorded audio excerpts from a refreshingly candid 40-minute interview the creators conducted with Sondheim, sharing personal observations about his childhood, his creative life and career, love and posterity.

The cast includes: Kate Baldwin, Victoria Clark, Gregg Edelman, Jan Maxwell, and Eric Jordan Young.
