About This Show

One Performance Only- A Special Benefit Reading
Tony Award winners John Glover and Joanna Gleason will star alongside Gleason’s husband, Chris Sarandon, in a benefit reading of John Epperson’s play My Deah.
Directed by Erik Sniedze, the reading will benefit The Millennium Talent Group, the resident company of Manhattan Ensemble Theatre.
My Deah is an absurd adaptation of Euripides’ Medea, set in the South. “It’s a Southern-fried comedy in the manner of an over-baked Hollywood domestic drama,” says the author, who is principally known as his alter-ego Lypsinka. “But it turns into a tragedy. She does kill the kids, just as you would expect.”
Glover is currently playing Anton Kilgallen in the Roundabout production of Jon Robin Baitz’s The Paris Letter.
Gleason can be seen on Broadway as Muriel in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, a performance for which she received 2005 Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations.
Sarandon last appeared on Broadway, alongside Gleason, in the ill-fated musical Nick and Nora. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his work in the film Dog Day Afternoon.
The cast of the My Deah reading also includes Andy Langton, Margaret Curry, Antony Raymond, Taylor Stockdale, Matt Schuneman, Ryan Knowles, and Louis Reyes Cardenas.
