About the Show

Dennis McIntyre’s Modigliani takes place in World War I in Montparnasse, France and focuses on three days in the life of Italian artist Amaedeo Modigliani. Modigliani began his career as a sculptor but turned to painting, in particular the elongated, simplified forms featured in his nude female portraits. In the play, Modigliani faces the challenges of breaking into the highly competitive world of the Parisian art scene, where the likes of Picasso rule supreme. Robert Castle directs.
