Le Dernier Caravansérail (Odyssées) is Le Théâtre du Soleil’s sweeping modern epic that evokes the plight of the modern day refugee. Director Ariane Mnouchkine, the visionary founder of Le Théâtre du Soleil, and her multinational cast tell the stories that some hope we’ll never hear, and others pray will reach our ears – the real stories of Afghan, Kurdish and Iranian travelers and their attempts to redirect destiny. The production is presented in two parts. The first, Le flueve cruel (The Cruel River), recounts the departures and exoduses, and the second, Origines et destines (Origins and Destinies), explores the events leading up to the emigration. Performed with English supertitles.
This event is part of the 2005 Festival at Lincoln Center and Act French: A Season of New Theater from France.
