About This Show

Amas Musical Theatre presents Blast from the Past, a one night only benefit concert of the hit Broadway musical Bubbling Brown Sugar. The evening, a benefit for Amas Musical Theatre, will include a silent auction and a tribute to Rosetta LeNoire, the founder of Amas who passed away in March 2002 at the age of 90. In addition, The Rosetta LeNoire Scholarship will be inaugurated and presented to a student from the Amas Musical Theatre program. One of the theatre’s best-loved couples, Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis will also be honored for their contribution to the theatre community and for their support of Amas.

Featured in the cast are: Ebony Jo-Ann, Chuck Cooper, Darius de Haas, Maurice Hines, Pam Isaacs, Sandra-Reeves Phillips, Sheryl Lee Ralph, James Stovall, Maria Torres, Tamara Tunie, and Lillias White. The evening is directed by Rajendra Ramoon Maharej, with musical direction by David Alan Bunn.

Blast From the Past will begin at 6:15 PM with cocktails and a silent auction in the lobby of the John Houseman Theatre to be followed by the concert which begins at 7:00 PM. Following the concert, there will be a party with the cast at The West Bank Café (407 West 42nd Street). Tickets for the event are $200 for the show and party and $100 for show only.
