A Stoop on Orchard Street is a new off-Broadway musical, with a cast of 16 and 18 original songs. The show celebrates tenement life on the Lower East Side circa 1910. If your ancestors did not come over on the Mayflower, they probably landed at Ellis Island and may have lived for a time in the teeming tenements on the Lower East Side. Come meet “The Bubbie”, Sam, Sarah, Ruth, Benny and all their “stoop” friends as they strive to live the American dream. You will find yourself laughing during numbers like “What’s Wrong with Lipschitz?”, enthralled by beautiful ballads like “Sarah”, and crying when you listen to nine year old Benny sing “Man of the Family”.
