My Pet Dragon

MY PET DRAGON is an insidiously poppy musical follows a teenage girl’s obsession with a pet dragon that takes over her life and threatens everything that she holds dear. Maggie (book writer/lyricist) used her experience with addiction and subsequent recovery to craft the story of Georgia and the journey she embarks on to tame her dragon. When we meet our heroine, she bemoans the woes of being a lifelong migraine sufferer. We simultaneously meet The Dragon Breeder, the villain of the piece, who plays all of the “enabler” roles. He disguises himself as her neurologist and prescribes her a dragon. At first, it’s the perfect solution: she no longer has migraines, and, in fact, feels better than she ever imagined possible. Her dragon is her new best friend, and life becomes more beautiful than Georgia ever anticipated.
