About the Show

Meredith Monk’s music and her influence on fellow composers and performers is celebrated with Meredith Monk/Multi-Musics. The four-concert series kicks off with a performance of Monk’s work by Meredith Monk & Vocal Ensemble on February 15 in the Peter Jay Sharpe Theater. On February 21, MM&VE members John Hollenbeck and Theo Bleckmann present works by Monk, as well as their own original compositions. “New Spin,” on February 28, features the Talujon Percussion Quartet with violinist Todd Reynolds performing music by Monk and other contemporary composers. Three alumni of Monk’s 2006 Carnegie Hall vocal workshop – Sylvie Jensen, Holly Nadal and Emily Eagen – perform Monk’s “Tablet” and “Vesel” on March 6. These three concerts take place in Symphony Space’s smaller Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre.
