Lavender Light – The Black and People of All Colors Lesbian and Gay Gospel Choir premieres its annual Gay Pride concert titled Angels Watching Over Me. The concert is led by the choir’s artistic director, Ray Gordon, and features choreography by American Ballet Theatre star and Tony Award nominee Robert La Fosse.

The program for the evening features an eclectic roster of traditional spirituals, classic gospel, and contemporary favorites including “Right Now” and “All Because of Jesus” by Andrae Crouch, “Never Alone” by Walter Hawkins, “My Hope Is Built,” “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” and Donald Lawrence’s titular “Angels Watching Over Me.”

Founded in 1985, Lavender Light – The Black and People of All Colors Lesbian and Gay Gospel Choir is the first non-church-affiliated lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender gospel choir in the world. Lavender Light performs selections from the sweeping canon of African American religious music including anthems, spirituals, classic gospel, contemporary inspirational gospel and popular songs of the day. The choir is an official delegate of the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses.
