Ladysmith Black Mambazo

For more than 40 years, the legendary Ladysmith Black Mambazo, a national treasure in South Africa, has combined the intricate rhythms and harmonies of South African musical traditions with the sounds and sentiments of gospel. Its stunning a cappella vocal harmonies based on Zulu isicathamiya township songs – the dynamic Zulu style that was born in the mines of South Africa – have become one of the most celebrated musical sounds in the world. Ladysmith’s uplifting music has entranced audiences around the world and first came to international attention with Paul Simon’s Graceland album and tour. The group has made over 40 albums, selling over seven million records at home and abroad, and established itself as the top selling group from Africa. This winter Ladysmith is touring the US in celebration of the release of its Ladysmith Black Mambazo Live DVD (Heads Up International).
