“Film and theater artist Mark Blane transposes the titular couple to 21st century New York City in a lean, captivating solo show that ingeniously reimagines the ancient Greek hero and sorceress as West Village actors.” – Thinking Theater NYC Review
Originally premiering Off-Off-Broadway in 2024, it received praise from Theatre Beyond Broadway for its “exquisite structure and pacing; there is never a dull moment!”
This solo show is written and performed by Mark Blane (JJ Abrams’ Little Voice) and directed by Dante Fuoco (SEAL, Dixon Place).
A married couple (Jay and Dea) living in the West Village is upended when Dea, a rising film actress, publicly confesses during a film Q&A that she killed her brother in self-defense. The revelation triggers a media frenzy, pushing the couple into crisis, and thus begins a torrid affair with Dea’s Hollywood agent’s non-binary spawn. The piece traces the collision of public scandal and private unraveling through video, sound, and live performance.
