About This Show

Featuring the orchestra, soloists and chorus of Cantiamo Opera Theater in concert under the direction of maestro Linus Lerner, and presenting Giuseppe Verdi’s l Trovatore: a drama of love, deception, revenge and mistaken identities. The opera begins as Ferrando, a soldier in service to the Count di Luna retells the story of the gypsy. To avenge the death of her mother by burning at the stake (a common occurrence in those days) at the hands of the Prince, the gypsy Azucena abducts the son of the prince and supposedly pushes the young count into the fire…or so we are led to believe. The stage is set for the rivalry between the young troubador, Manrico, and Count di Luna for the hand of Leonora, and the plot by Azucena to avenge the death of her mother.
