About This Show

The York Theatre Company presentsn as part of its Developmental Reading Series, the first reading of Gay Grimms.

A finalist in the Stages 2007 competition in Chicago, the show is a new musical about Jackie and Leon, the Cousins Grimm, adapting their ancestors’ beloved stories and adding a queer sensibility to them. Jackie is a celebrated lesbian composer/solo artist. Leon asks her to work with him and she impulsively agrees. Strange and magical things begin to happen as their versions of the tales come to life; including a mysterious and surprising twist to their creative collaboration.

The libretto is written by Ted Sod, who also directs. Music is composed by Dan Martin and lyrics are written by Michael Biello.

The cast includes: Klea Blackhurst, Heidi Blickenstaff, Jonathan Brody, Ann Harada, Jillian Louis, Randy Redd, and Devin Richards.
