About This Show

Shakespeare’s immortal knight, Sir John Falstaff, is the most expansive, gregarious, fun-loving, rascally, lecherous, inebriate in all of literature. Only a master like Guiseppe Verdi could possibly bring him to musical life.
Here, Verdi and his librettist, Arrigo Boito, combine elements from Henry IV, and the Merry Wives of Windsor to create the vibrant world of Shakespearean taverns, bordellos, and gaming houses. The spectacle of music and drama is as rich and robust as a day in the Globe Theatre. Enter this world with the jolly Sir John as your guide and you’ll surely hear the famous “chimes at midnight”.
Dicapo General Director Michael Capasso transports the action to Brooklyn, New York in the 1950’s where the plot twists andturn will have the familiar look of some of your favorite sit-coms from the era.
Sung in Italian with dicapotitles.
