The creation of the full evening dance piece, Ear to Ground Fantasia: Thinking Nature, began with the choreographer and performers putting their ears to the ground, literally and figuratively, to listen and feel what was rumbling. What was heard depended on where one laid their “ear” — the concrete of South Bronx, the floor of the dance studio, the common ground of social realities, and the landscapes of a transforming world. The movement used in this piece is based in a technique called Swift/Flow, which uses continuous movement and connectivity as the primary source that compels and propels the body.
The piece is set to an original soundscape by Alberto Denis.
