Cicely Tyson is the winner of the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play!

Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding Jr. (As Good as It Gets) and Academy Award nominee Cicely Tyson (Sounder) star alongside Tony Award nominees Vanessa Williams (Sondheim on Sondheim) and Condola Rashad (Stick Fly) in this Broadway revival of Horton Foote’s classic American play The Trip to Bountiful. The story follows an elderly woman named Carrie Watts (Tyson) who longs to return to her hometown of Bountiful, TX. She leaves on her journey against the wishes of her overprotective son (Gooding) and his bossy wife (Williams), meeting a girl along the way (Rashad) with whom she reminisces about her past. Michael Wilson (Gore Vidal’s The Best Man) directs.
