Arirang: Korean Ritual Solos

Embodying the dramatic power and elegant sensuality of Korean Dance, Myung Soo Kim, whose recent New York shows caused a critical sensation, presents Arirang: Korean Ritual Solos.

The South Korean native performs a series of mesmerizing shamanic dances, drawing on her own emotional experiences living within the political turmoil of North and South Korea.

The rich colors of Kim’s multi-layered costumes and Korean ritual music complement her lush movement. Kim’s solo performance is made up of seven Korean dances: Nabich’um, Pujongnori, Tosalp’uri, Kommu, Sungmu, T’aep’youngmu and Salp’urich’um. These dances are tied together with the theme of “Arirang.”
