About This Show

The Amy Marshall Dance Company presents its New York City Season, featuring premieres of three new works and one repertoire offering. Two of the new works offer original scores by Arthur Solari and Marlon Cherry.

Metamorphosis (Premiere)
The work strives to reveal the beauty of the human body, the simplicity of human touch and the raw emotions of procreation. With an original score by Marlon Cherry.

Moonshine (Premiere)
Based on the textile industry of Spartanburg, SC in the early 1900s, when women and children worked hard labor jobs. The conditions were not always good, and many people suffered from respiratory illness which often times ended their lives. Though times were tough, with sickness and fatigue part of their daily lives, the people of Spartanburg turned to each other for comfort and strength.

In Fieri (Premiere)
Marshall’s newest work, set to a commissioned score by Arthur Solari. The title means, “in the process of accomplishment” – in this case, striving to reach one’s best individually and as a group.

Fire of the Dove (2006)
The work depicts the final days of the life of Joan of Arc, leading from her trial into her final demise at the stake. With music by Richard Einhorn.
