About This Show

Alternative Torch melds rock and pop genres with Broadway’s most acclaimed performers. The inaugural concert of the series features four singer/songwriters who epitomize the alternative voice of rock and are at the forefront of today’s rock scene: Tom Kitt, Greg Naughton, Rosemary Loar, and Peter Eldridge (of the New York Voices).

The four singer/songwriters will each present a set of their own music, including a ballad, or “torch” song, performed by a Broadway singer of their choice. Composer Eldridge invites Dee Hoty (Mamma Mia, City Of Angels, Footloose, Will Roger’s Follies) to join him, while Kitt invites Jerry Dixon (Once On This Island, Tick, Tick, Boom), Loar invites Karen Mason (Sunset Boulevard, Mamma Mia), and Naughton invites Alan Campbell (Sunset Boulevard, Contact).

A five-piece rock band will accompany each singer/songwriter, with Jim Abbott (Bombay Dreams) on keyboards, Gary Seligson on drums, Leo Huppert (Blood, Sweat and Tears) on bass, Roger Butterley (Phoebe Snow) on guitar and Alicia Irving (Side Show, Les Miserables, Sunset Boulevard) on back-up vocals. The evening will be emceed by Rosemary Loar.
