About This Show

Richard Knox arrived in New Orleans in 1966 from his hometown of Champaign, Illinois to pursue a career as a professional pianist and performer. In the more than 5 decades since, Richard has not only mastered his craft, but also become an important fixture in the New Orleans music community. He has accumulated a vast wealth of experience playing with the best of the best on the scene including being a longtime member of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and a 6-year stint on keys with Kermit Ruffins.

Knox’s skill as a piano player has taken him around the world from China and Thailand to Australia and Europe with such names as Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton and Branford Marsalis, The Black Crows, The Neville Brothers, Elvis Costello and many others. With 6 world tours and countless other performances under his belt, Richard has played prestigious venues  such as the North Sea Jazz Festival, Toronto Jazz Fest, Newport Jazz Festival, and the Perth Music Festival.
Tonight, he presents his Richard Knox Organ Trio, serving up a lively setlist of familiar jazz and swing tunes made famous by the likes of Duke Ellington, Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong—all seasoned with a special Richard Knox flavor.
