Velma Kelly is glamorous cabaret dancer and acrobat awaiting her trial for the murder of her philandering husband in Cook County Jail. Used to being the talk of the town, she is surprised on being upstaged by the new girl, chorus girl Roxie Hart, a timid but ambitious murderess who’s in danger of stealing Velma’s carefully cultivated limelight.

On murdering her lover, Roxie first convinces her dim-witted husband to take the fall, but when he puts two and two together, she’s all on her own, until she meets charming, media savvy lawyer Billy Flynn. There’s just one problem, Billy Flynn is also Velma’s lawyer. This starts a battle over the charismatic Flynn, which Velma and Roxie must go against each other to get themselves out of prison and onto the stage!
