The Special Prisoner

James Glossman’s adaptation of Jim Lehrer’s The Special Prisoner deals with a 71-year-old Methodist Bishop who locks eyes with a man he is certain was the Japanese POW commandant who tortured him and killed thousands of prisoners fifty years ago during World War II. The piece moves back and forth through time as it follows the steep and winding road to forgiveness and reconciliation.
