About the Show

Die Fledermaus (The Bat) is a comedic operetta about mistaken identities, flirtation, and revenge, set during a lavish New Year’s Eve ball, where wealthy Gabriel Eisenstein avoids a short jail sentence by attending the party in disguise, only to meet a Hungarian Countess there who is really his wife Rosalinde in a masked costume, leading to hilarious romantic mix-ups, all orchestrated by his friend Dr. Falke to get back at Eisenstein for a past prank, culminating in confessions, revealed disguises, and ironic resolutions – finally blaming champagne for everyone’s follies!

Alison Bolshoi directs an all-star Cast and Chorus, accompanied by the TSONJ Orchestra – all under the baton of Joseph Pucciatti. This production features a spectacular cast making role debuts with TSONJ: Tenor John Easterlin as Gabriel Eisenstein, Soprano Nicole Woodward as Rosalinda Eisenstein, Soprano Sara LeMesh as Adele, Bass-Baritone John Robert Green as Dr. Falke, Tenor Dylan Davis as Alfred, and Mezzo-Soprano Rachel Deatherage as Prince Orlofsky.

Stunning virtual sets by J. Matthew Root will adorn the production at Kendall Main Stage Theater on the campus of The College of New Jersey, 2000 Pennington Road, Ewing. Two performances only: Friday, March 20 at 7:30pm and Sunday, March 22 at 3:00pm. Pre-Curtain Talks in the theater begin one hour prior to performances. Patron shuttles for persons with mobility impairments, and great signage on campus, are implemented for attendees.
