BRUCE

A One-Night-Only Concert Reading of a New Musical

Friday, August 15, 2025

6:00 PM at THIRD Street

814 S 3rd St, Las Vegas 89101

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original Jaws film with a thrilling behind-the-scenes retelling of how it almost didn’t happen…

BRUCE, the new musical from the team behind Bandstand, The Sandman, and The House on Watch Hill, returns to Las Vegas for an exclusive, intimate reading to benefit THIRD Street, the city’s future hub for bold, community-rooted performance and education.

In 1974, a 26-year-old virtually unknown director set out to film a bestselling novel on the open ocean with a mechanical shark that refused to work. The result? The world’s first summer blockbuster, and the birth of Steven Spielberg’s legendary career.

It’s the underdog story of a visionary artist forced to rely on guts, grit, and imagination when everything fell apart. Based on The Jaws Log by Carl Gottlieb, BRUCE invites you behind the scenes of a cinematic miracle, a musical love letter to collaboration, crisis, and creativity.

What to Expect:

6:00 PM – Drinks, bites, and your first peek inside THIRD Street

7:30 PM – Reading begins with full cast

9:15 PM to 10:30 PM – Dessert, drinks, and conversation with the artists

This new version of BRUCE has undergone major rewrites since its early reading at Cockroach Theatre in 2019, its Open Jar Lab in NYC, and its Seattle Rep premiere. Now, with Olivier Award-winning director Matthew Cole shaping its future, this special event offers a rare chance to witness a Broadway musical in the making before it takes the world by storm.
