Hailed as “exquisite” by The Philadelphia Inquirer and “a pianist of sterling artistry” by Gramophone, GRAMMY-winning pianist Michelle Cann is one of the brightest stars of her generation. She has performed with major orchestras like the Chicago Symphony, The Cleveland Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Her accolades include the Sphinx Medal of Excellence, the Andrew Wolf Chamber Music Award, and being named the inaugural Christel DeHaan Artistic Partner of the American Piano Awards in 2024.
Cann’s 2024-25 season features performances with the San Francisco Symphony, the Cincinnati Symphony, and London’s Philharmonia Orchestra. Beyond solo appearances, she collaborates with groups like the Dover Quartet and the Imani Winds, with recital stops at iconic venues such as the 92nd Street Y, New York, and Shriver Hall.
A renowned interpreter of Florence Price’s music, Cann brought Price’s Piano Concerto in One Movement to audiences in major premieres and earned a GRAMMY Award in 2023 for her recording with the New York Youth Symphony. Her subsequent GRAMMY win came in 2025 for Beyond the Years, a collection of Price’s unpublished songs. Her debut solo album, Revival, also spotlights the works of Price and Margaret Bonds.
