About the Show

Riveting and funny, dangerous and sizzling, Andrew Lippa’s award-winning gripping and eclectic musical The Wild Party is based off of the classic 1928 poem by Joseph March. This Twin Cities premiere is an
erotic jazz-age tale brought to life — a daring peek into a decadent jazz age
soiree filled with low life and high society — populated by sleazy, dazzling
entertainers, shady gangsters and beautiful playboys. Lippa’s award-winning score runs the gamut from jazz and blues to ballads and contemporary musical theater.

The story revolves around vaudeville performers Queenie and Burrs, passionate, violent lovers. They teeter on the brink of ecstasy one
moment and agony the next. After years of lust and obsession, Queenie
decides it’s time for a change. So they throw a party to end all parties. The stage is set to walk out on Burrs, but a shadowy guest provides an irresistible attraction to Queenie – and a forbidden romance is found in a tumultuous and decadent evening. Desperation is mistaken for love and lives are forever changed.
