Roberto Plano has a lengthy and impressive list of international competition credits to his name, among them First Prize at the 2001 Cleveland Competition and Third Prize at the 2003 Honens Competition in Calgary. In 2005, as a finalist at the Twelfth Van Cliburn Competition, he was featured in the film documentaries “In the Heart of Music” and “Encores” (together with James Conlon and Menahem Pressler), which was aired on PBS. His playing is consistently hailed for its expressiveness, authoritative shaping, and interpretive audacity. Among his recordings are a CD of Chopin, Liszt and Scriabin on the Italian label Sipario Dischi and a recent Brahms album for Arktos. A graduate of École Normale ‘Cortot’ in Paris, Plano maintains a busy career in Europe and North America from his home in Italy.
