Every second in the US, 70 people are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease – and this number is increasing. Some commentators suggest that the numbers of demented patients will soon overwhelm the health care industry if a cure or means of prevention is not found. David O’Sullivan’s play, Return of the Horseman, considers what may happen if indeed, we fail to find a cure. Set in the future when society had adopted drastic measures to deal with the number of senior citizens suffering from dementia, WOMAN retains her love of baseball and Irish folklore while awaiting the Return of the Horseman.
