A mother of 12 is denied the right to ever see her children again. Her crime? She fled her abusive husband, having to leave her children behind, and was then condemned by the orthodox community in which they lived. Armed with a court order and a secular police escort, she now braves a mob of enraged men in order to return to her children.
Upon reentering her home, she encounters the angry, accusing women who were once her family, neighbors and friends. Seeking justice, she begs the reluctant women to form a Women’s Minyan (quorum) to sit in judgment of her. She agrees to abide by whatever they decide, believing that, once they hear the truth of why she left, this minyan of women will vote to allow her to be reunited with her children.
