About the Show
David Christner’s This Blood’s for You opens Detroit Repertory Theatre’s 2000-2001 season. This dark comedy focuses on Charley James, a career criminal, with just 10 days to live before facing execution in Florida’s infamous “Old Sparky.” Things become politically complicated when an alcoholic priest convinces him that there would be some redemption if his organs were harvested for transplanting. The troubling issues of capital punishment and deliberate harvesting of organs are humorously combined to ridicule the inhumane injustice system.
There are no performances scheduled for Thanksgiving or Christmas. There is no matinee performance on New Year’s Eve.
