New York City
Mother’s Day in the United States was initially developed in 1872 by Julia Ward Howe, who wrote the lyrics for the “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” It was to be a day dedicated to peace and truth. Fellow truth-tellers comedian Jimmy Tingle and ex-CIA analyst Mel Goodman will celebrate Mother’s Day’s origins by hosting a special screening of the controversial documentary, Uncovered. Goodman, who appears prominently in the film, will speak and answer questions. The proceeds benefit Voice of Democracy, a project of Peace Action. This event is co-sponsored by Women’s Action for New Directions (WAND).
Appropriate for children 12 and over.
