About the Show

When the Charles Dickens classic Great Expectations was first staged in London’s West End, audiences around the world were able to share in the historic opening night. Although Great Expectations had been adapted for film on two separate occasions, once by David Lean in 1946 and more recently by Mike Newell, it had never been produced on the West End or Broadway. The novel was widely believed to be too difficult to translate to the stage. However, this adaptation by Jo Clifford was hailed as a triumph. A live broadcast of the show took place on February 7, 2013, and included red carpet, arrivals, and behind-the-scenes footage exclusively for participating theaters. The stage production was captured in high-definition video and audio.
