About the Show

New England Conservatory Opera Theatre presents Jules Massenet’s Cendrillon (Cinderella). All the familiar characters and
situations of the classic Perrault story are there – the glass slipper, the
clock striking 12 midnight, – with the production being presented in it’s
original French (with English supertitles). The characters in this edition
of the classic story are much more developed and humanized; Pandolfe,
Cinderella’s father sweet, loving, helpless father being perhaps the most
beautifully and fully realized apart from Cinderella herself, called Lucette
in this opera. New England Conservatory’s Director and Chair of Opera
Studies conducts; Marc Astafan directs.
