The Communication Arts Department at Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) will present A Shayna Maidel, a play about the importance of family and faith during turbulent times. Honored by the American Theater Critics Association the year it was released, Barbara Lebow’s A Shayna Maidel is a haunting story of a young Jewish woman who survives a Nazi concentration camp and joins the remnants of her family in New York.
Set in 1946, the play features a Jewish family that was nearly decimated after the Nazi invasion of Poland during World War II. The story is not about the cruelty of the Holocaust, but instead about the family restoring what is left of their lives after the war.
