About the Show
Stanley is a charismatic 'church' leader who performs exorcisms for fun and profit (mostly profit, if he’s being honest, which he rarely is) on people he assumes to be afflicted more with delusion than with actual demons. Stanley and his wife Esme, the first lady of the Church of Stanley, don't believe in the demonic or in anything else they preach, but the donations they receive from their ever-faithful followers are certainly real.
The grift is going exactly as planned until Stanley accidentally performs a legitimate exorcism on a truly possessed woman. To Stanley and Esme’s horror, the demon has no intention of going back to where it came from – it’s following them home.
Stanley and His Demon is more than just a dark comedy: it’s a discussion on faith, fraud, and the existential horror of being a human. New Orleanian theatergoers are invited to experience what happens when a demon makes better company than most of humanity – and to watch two con artists finally meet their match.
