There’s Only One Wayne Matthews!

Wayne Matthews wants to be the greatest footballer in the world. There’s only one problem: he’s rubbish. Yes, there is only one Wayne Matthews – dreamer, artist and the proud owner of a head full of football trivia; but none of the that means anything when you can’t kick a ball. If only Wayne was more like Carl Wilkins, the most popular boy in school and star of the school team.

This fast-action new play has been written for Polka by one of the UK’s leading playwrights, Roy Williams. Roy has written sell-out shows for the National Theatre and the RSC. It is the first play to be directed at Polka by new Artistic Director Jonathan Lloyd.
