The Arabian Nights

About the Show

The Arabian Nights, written by Mary Zimmerman, weaves ancient tales of wonder into a rich and poetic testament to the transformational power of storytelling. An Arabian king loves and then kills a young woman each night until he encounters Scheherezade, the weaver of dreams and tales. For one thousand and one nights, he delays her execution as she keeps him enthralled with her stories of love, humour and morality. The performance offers a rare opportunity to see the graduating students from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in their final amateur production before they are snapped up to become stars of stage and screen. Lise Olsen directs.
