About This Show

This new adaptation of Aeschylus’ masterpiece was one of the last projects award-winning writer Ted Hughes completed before his death last year. In his most personal, sparse style, the production speaks to contemporary audiences.
Lose the war or kill his daughter? As this man chooses personal ambition and brutally murders his child, the Universe unleashes a chain of vengence. When he returns home from the war victorious, his wife murders him. To avenge this act, their son Orestes kills her. Chaos prevails. The `daughters of darkness’ emerge from the depths of the earth demanding that the son’s crime be avenged. The story climaxes in a dramatic courtroom scene. But can the cycle of violence be stopped?
