Driver/Painter

About the Show

Driver/Painter, by the multi-award winning Israeli playright Hillel Mittelpunkt, translated by Leanne Raday, and directed by Lee Gilat, featuring an original score by Daniel Salomon and designs by Uri Ofir, is an enchanting and humorous drama about the unusual relationship that develops between an ageing artist and an amnesiac lorry driver. On her return to her now derelict childhood home after a long exile amongst South America’s elite, Mira, a flamboyant artist, encounters the taciturn and enigmatic Aaron. Instant animosity between the two damaged people (who have completely different approaches to life, land and relationships) reveals a common frailty that bonds and unites two opposites. Director Lee Gilat returns to the New End after her recent success of The Timekeepers. Driver/Painter is a funny and moving drama that has been performed both in New York and Israel to great success and phenomenal revues.
