About the Show
Join us for the first edition of 'Classic Fridays with Jamison'!
I am so excited for this new series that I am starting, and look forward to enjoying this experience with all of you. I'll start by defining a little bit the scope of this series and what I mean by "classics". This is a companion series to the 'Foreign Fridays with Jamison', which is pretty self-explanatory: films made and produced abroad, where the dialogue is in a language other than English. This series, thus, will feature English language movies, and the rule of thumb I've decided to adopt and impose on myself is the rather arbitrary rule that the movie has to be a minimum of 60 years old. While I reserve the right to wiggle that date in the future, I think that it will serve perfectly well for the time being!
Winter can be a tough time for folks… It's cold, it's dark, and it's easy to feel a bit melancholy after a while. In an effort to counter program those blues, I figured great comedy would be ideal, and who better to get us started than Hepburn and Tracy? This 1949 screwball comedy, directed by George Cukor, is just what the doctor ordered, and it will be so much fun to watch the film together, followed by a fun conversation about its story, performances, themes, and our collective love for classic film.
So mark your calendars for Friday, January 23rd at 7:00pm – I can't wait to see you all at the ACME!
