About This Show
09/20 and 11/15 – WSU student jazz ensembles, featuring two Guitar Ensembles (the Stratocasters and the Flying V’s, both directed by William Flynn) performing an energetic mix of funk, jazz, and rock. Also featuring the Jazz Saxophone Ensemble (directed by Jim Pisano), performing jazz standards and selections from the Great American Songbook.
09/25 and 11/16 – WSU student jazz combos, coached by Professors William Flynn, Jim Pisano, and Steve Hatfield. Featuring the WSU Jazz Combo 1, who will be a featured performer at the Jazz Education Network national conference in Orlando, FL this upcoming January.
09/26 – 11/17 – WSU Jazz Arts Ensembles, under the direction of Saxophone Professor Jim Pisano and Jazz Graduate Teaching Assistant Miguel Santana. Traditional large jazz ensembles performing a variety of classic and contemporary literature. Featuring Jazz Arts Ensemble 1, who will be featured performer at the Kansas Music Educators Association annual In-Service Workshop in Wichita this upcoming February.
