The Playboy of the Western World

First Folio presents the tragic-comic The Playboy of the Western World by John Millington Synge. When Christy Mahon enters the local pub with news that he’s killed his father, the townsfolk are aghast. As the evening progresses, however, and Christy tells his tale, their horror turns
to admiration, and Christy becomes a hero to everyone, including Pegeen Mike, the girl he falls in love with. As with most Irish tales, however, in the end, Christy and Pegeen must face up to the truth and Pegeen must accept, or reject, Christy for what he really is.
