The Comedy of Errors

About the Show

The Comedy of Errors, Shakespeare’s earliest comedy presented by the First Folio, is based on the ancient Roman play The Menaechmi by Plautus. It tells the story of two sets of twins, master and servant, who are separated from their brothers shortly after birth, with one set being raised in Ephesus and the second set in Syracuse. Each set grows up not knowing that they have an identical twin. When business takes the Syracuse pair to Ephesus, the comedy of mistaken identities begins. From wives and girlfriends to policemen and merchants, nobody is sure who is who until the final climactic resolution. For the last 400 years, The Comedy of Errors has reigned as one of the greatest slapstick, screwball comedies ever.

There is an additional performance on Sunday July 13 at 2:00 for a special Family/Senior Matinee.
